MCREYNOLDS WINS FIRST CAREER ARCA RACE AT
TALLADEGA
TALLADEGA,
AL (May 4, 2012) -- Brandon McReynolds only led once (for about 20 feet) but it
was enough to earn the young driver his first-ever ARCA Series win.
McReynolds, the son of legendary NASCAR crew chief
Larry McReynolds, used a last-lap charge to pass Matt Lofton coming out of the
final turn to capture the International Motorpsorts Hall of Fame 250
before a cheering crowd of onlookers.
Rain washed out qualifying so the field was set
by car owners points. This put Matt Lofton on the pole with Chris Buescher
completing the front row of the 43-car field.
The 94-lap race featured four leaders among
three different drivers. Matt Lofton led the race's first 52 laps before giving
way to Chad Hackenbracht. More

ASA CARS SPEED DURING MADISON PRACTICE
OREGON,
Wis. — The ASA Midwest Tour’s decision to compete on a different compound
of Hoosier tires were catching everyone’s attention at Saturday’s practice
for Sunday’s season opening event, the 4th Annual Joe Shear Classic at
Madison Int’l Speedway.
So
fast, many are asking if the eight-year-old track record could be in jeopardy.
Jason
Weinkauf’s fast time in the final practice session of 17.452 came within
0.039 seconds of an eight-year Super Late Model track record by Andrew
Morrissey who set the mark of 17.413 seconds in 2004. What is interesting is
that Morrissey set the track record using a 4-bbl carburetor, and the ASA
Midwest Tour competes on2-bbl carburetors. More

NOAH NICHOLS IS A STAR IN THE CLASSROOM AND ON
THE RACE TRACK
BELPRE,
OH (March 15, 2012) -- Although just 11 years old, Noah Nichols has discovered
a winning combination doesn't happen by accident. It happens through thoughtful
preparation, understanding and proper execution to get the desired
results.
The young driver from Belpre, OH has found he
must apply himself in the classroom and apply the skills he is developing in
school on to the race track.
The 4.0 student doesn't just hop in the kart and
drive, he spends hours during the week preparing the kart he will race
in.
This understanding of the kart gives the young
driver an edge over his competition when it comes to making adjustments to
improve his kart's performance.
Noah, driving for Team N1, had an outstanding
2011 season compiling 18 feature and 35 heat race wins at four different race
tracks. More

HOOSIER TIRE 2012 ROAD RACING
CONTINGENCY PROGRAM UPDATED
Lakeville,
IN (February 24, 2012) -- Hoosier Tire’s generous contingency
program with SCCA Club, SCCA Solo and NASA series will continue
throughout the 2012 racing season. The Hoosier contingency program has
increased Hoosier’s presence in the grassroots club racing market.
This program has benefitted many club racing competitors who typically
race for non-monetary awards like points, trophies or free product. By
awarding free product, like race car parts to club racers, it entices
the competitor to continue to race, be brand loyal and saves money to
spend on other racing expenses. Take a moment to review the updated
2012 contingency payout and awards at the link below and if you have
any questions please contact Paula Nate, pnate@hoosiertire.com.

GERHART COMES FROM 42ND TO CAPTURE HIS
8TH DAYTONA VICTORY
DAYTONA
BEACH, FL (February 18, 2012) -- Hopefully, ARCA fans had their DVR's set on
extended record on Saturday.
The season-opening Lucas Oil Slick
Mist 200 race at Daytona went into overtime with Bobby Gerhart
coming from 42nd place to claim his eighth Daytona win in a climactic
green-white-checker finish.
Gerhart's uncharacteristic poor
starting position was a result of a post-qualifying inspection which relegated
him to the rear of the field after setting fast time in qualifying on
Friday.
Gerhart's qualifying engine had a
vacuum leak and forced the Pennsylvania driver to go to a back-up
engine and, worse yet, a 42nd place starting spot in the
season-opening race which he has dominated over the years. More

HOOSIER DISTRIBUTOR ANNOUNCES NEW E-MOD DRIVER
REWARDS PROGRAM
Hoosier
Tire Mid-Atlantic and Precise Racing Products are proud to announce a new
Driver Rewards Program for E-mod competitors in the Ohio, Western NY, and
Pennsylvania region. HTMA/Precise has posted a guaranteed minimum $11,500 cash
point fund plus tire/product contingencies that will be paid directly to our
teams in this competitive area for the 2012 racing season.
“We definitely felt it was time to get back
to rewarding the racers for their support of our Hoosier product,” stated
HTMA/Precise General Manager Bob Wirts. “We needed to develop a simple,
performance-based reward system. If the drivers get rewarded, so will the
racetracks, with higher and more consistent car counts. We also wanted to limit
the amount of change required to continue racing in these difficult economic
times.”

"NEW H2O WET HELPED
ME EARN MY FIRST SCCA SOLO NATS TROPHY!" Submitted by: Chris Robbins
LINCOLN,
NE -- My 2006 Mazda MX-5 (3rd generation Miata) is prepped for C Street
Prepared class autocross competition, where I compete against the smaller &
much lighter 1st and 2nd gen Miatas.
My drivetrain/suspension mods include AST 5220
coilovers, Hyperco springs, Hotchkis RX-8 front swaybar (no rear bar), full
polyurethane bushings, and Mazdaspeed LSD. The engine is producing close to 200
hp and 170 tq (crank). It weighed 2360 at Nats this year, or nearly 400 lbs
more than my competition.
My best finish at Nats was 11th in 2010,
although the car does have a National Championship title (Juliann Pokorny won
the CSP Ladies class in 2009, in the rain on Day 2, on Hoosier Wets). More

HOOSIER ENDS SUPPORT
OF TSMA SERIES
LAKEVILLE,
IN (January 30, 2012) -- Hoosier Racing Tire regrets to inform the drivers,
owners and promoters who race with the TSMA organization that it will be
unable to continue its support of the sanctioning body in 2012.
“It
is never an easy decision to end a relationship like this,” stated Hoosier
Product Manager Shanon Rush. “Although we were close to coming to an
agreement for 2012, the recent rule changes proposed by TSMA would not allow
competitors racing on Hoosier Tires to have a fair chance at the championship.
We also reviewed last year’s point standings and very little of our
sponsorship was reaching our dedicated Hoosier customers. It's time to take
our support back to those who support Hoosier Tires.”
“This
philosophical change does not weaken our commitment to Modified racing,”
reiterated Mr. Rush. “It is our intent to continue open competition tire
development, race track and driver support, and support for organizations that
support Hoosier Tire and our Distributors. We wish TSMA and those drivers who
support it good luck and apologize that we were unable to reach an agreement
for 2012.”
If
drivers, owners, or promoters have any specific
questions or concerns, feel free to share them with us directly via e-mail to srush@hoosiertire.com
