LAKEVILLE,
IN (October 29) -- Many Hoosier-shod competitors in the 600cc
Modified Midget class have enjoyed a terrific 2001 season. Locally, in 76 events
at Indiana's US 24
Speedway in Logansport, Bakersfield Raceway Park in Linton, Camden
Raceway in Camden and at Miami County Speedway in Peru, drivers using
USA-made Hoosier tires won an amazing 51 races. That's over two-thirds
of the events ending with a Team Hoosier driver capturing the checkered
flag. And while these guys names may not be as well known as
"Kinser" and "Lasoski", they compete just as hard
while also carrying the Hoosier banner proudly.
Veteran tire
man, Paul Moyer, of Moyer Motorsports and a Hoosier Tire Midwest
Dealer, serviced the competitor's tire needs throughout the 2001
season and was very proud to report the success the Hoosier brand
enjoyed, as well as, the accomplishments of those drivers capturing
wins. Moyer reported that 13 drivers shared in the 51
wins, as Matt Hardin, Nate Lauderbaugh, Bob Nash, Josh Spencer,
Brandon Wimmer, Tommie Beattie, Shane Hollingsworth, Matt Latty, Bob
Bourff, Bobby Steins, Kent Ireland, Jon Isabel and Chris Miller, were
each 2001 winners in the Modified Midget class this year. The 600cc
competitors use Hoosier's 69.0/10.0-10 tire (cat #42237) on their
right rear which comes in seven different compound variations. The myriad
of choices allowed the competitors to select just the right
formulation for their application. Other tires used were the
59.0/10.0-10 (#42125) and the 61.0/10.0-10 (#42167) tire which also
come in a variety of "flavors". Like hundreds
of small tracks around the country, there are so many race teams using
the Hoosier brand that we cannot do justice to all of them by way of
reporting. But be assured, their use of our products are no less
important to us than that of the higher profile venues. Neil
Cowman, Hoosier oval track dirt product manager had this to say about
Paul Moyer and the efforts of the Micro Midget competitors, "Paul
has done a great job for Hoosier over the years and this year was one
of the best." Cowman continued, "It's interesting to
look back on the path we have followed over the years. First, we
developed and tested tires on the many small dirt tracks across the
country to develop a competitive product. Then, as the local drivers
began winning more and more races, doors to larger and higher
profile venues began to open for Hoosier. Now, it kind of works in reverse, we test
in the higher profile venues and provide many of the same
constructions and compounds to the smaller venues. A different path,
but the same destination,..... providing the best race tires in the
world." Congratulations to all the Team Hoosier members
for their trust and loyalty during the 2001 racing season! |
