ALCARRAS,
SPAIN (April 26, 2009) -- The SuperQuad Spanish Cup (CESQ) held its first event
of the 2009 season last weekend at Alcarrās. Despite rainy conditions, the
event provided for some exciting racing for the participants, as well as, the
fans in attendance. Although, the event may not have happened at all if not for
Hoosier coming to the rescue.
What started as a casual conversation a few months earlier at the annual ATV
trade show in Indianapolis quickly developed into an exclusive partnership
between Hoosier and the CESQ.
While in Indianapolis, Alex Puigdevall, promoter of the SuperQuad Spanish
Cup, spoke with Hoosier's V.P. of Sales Dennis Sherman and ATV Product Manager
Neil Cowman to discuss the possibility of Hoosier ATV tires being used in
Spain.
A few days after the show, Hoosier received a follow-up inquiry from Alex
who was back in Spain putting together plans for their upcoming season.
What started as a casual conversation became a bit more urgent when the
previous tire supplier for the series inform Puigdevall they would no longer be
able to provide tires for the series (which was to start in just two
months).
For many of the veterans working at Hoosier, it was like old times. The
emergency, gotta-have-it phone call.
It was an opportunity that reminded us where we came from and what the Hoosier
organization is capable of that almost no other tire company can do.
Within days, experimental tires had been produced and air-freighted to Spain
for testing.
Upon the arrival of the test tires, an emergency tire test was arranged.
The tires had to be of a construction and compound suitable for both dirt
and asphalt since the riders compete on both surfaces during their races.
Unfortunately, the first test tires were not suitable for both conditions
and more test tires were required.
Once again, in just a couple days, even more test tires were produced and
air-freighted to Spain for another round of emergency testing.
The second shipment of test tires was a success and the green light was
given to produce tires for the series' first event which, by then, was less
than a month away.
Aware of the situation, the Hoosier production facility quickly made room in
their schedule for the emergency production run.
The newly designed tires were then produced in near record time.
The freshly made 200 tires were then quickly air-freighted via UPS-SCS to
Spain.
The tires arrived with a full week to spare and the event was contested as
scheduled much to the delight of everyone involved.
