Rockford, IL- Multiple racetracks as well as the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet will utilize the new Hoosier 800 eight inch implement tire in 2010 for Weekly Late Model racing in Illinois and Wisconsin. The Hoosier Racing Tire compound will be utilized Fridays at Madison International Speedway and Saturday nights at Dells Raceway Park as well as Rockford Speedway.
“We asked Hoosier to develop a repeatable, reliable tire for our brand of racing.” Commented Gregg McKarns of the Big 8 Series and Rockford Speedway. “Following our tests at multiple tracks under various weather conditions, we believe the folks at Hoosier have done just what we asked and that the racing will be tremendous.” Hoosier Racing Tire representative Irish Saunders added, “The weekly late model racing in the Midwest is second to none, all of us at Hoosier are excited to begin this relationship with the tracks, series and most importantly the teams.”
The Hoosier 800 tire will be available in March for purchase and is expected to retail for the same amount as tires utilized in past seasons. Race teams can view the new tire this weekend at the Midwest Motorsports Racer’s Expo in Madison, WI Friday and Saturday January 8 and 9 at the Alliant Energy Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Additional tracks are considering the switch to this economically friendly tire as well.
Late Model racing in the Midwest will begin a new era on Sunday afternoon April 18 when the Big 8 Series competes on Hoosier tires for the first time during the 33rd annual Spring Classic at Rockford Speedway. Weekly racing will begin in late April and early May at many of the tracks listed, check track websites for exact dates and times.
