TERRE
HAUTE, IN (September 20-21, 2008) -- Quarter Midgets of America's Region 5 held
their last regional series race at Terre Haute QMA and named their regional
class winners as the 2008 season comes to a close. When the weekend of racing
was complete, three drivers using Hoosier Quarter Midget tires claimed wins in
five different classes.
Winners included Tyler Schwartz who set fast time and then went on to win
the Jr. Honda class, while Gavin Graybeal was the winner in Jr. Stock. Both
Tyler and Gavin used Hoosier's A30A compound en route to their respective class
wins. Kyle Schuett set fast time in both Heavy Mod and World Formula classes
and captured wins in the Heavy Mod, Heavy B, and World Formula A-mains on
Hoosier's A40A compound.
At the conclusion of the race weekend, Kyle Schuett was named the 2008
Region 5 champion in Heavy Mod, Heavy B, and World Formula. According to local
sources, this is believed to be the first time a driver has won three
regional class championships in a single season.
