MONROE,
WA (June 21, 2009) -- Isaac Abenroth continues to pile up more wins on Hoosier
quarter midget tires in the Washington Quarter Midget Association (WQMA) in
Monroe, WA. While the 8-year-old has been been winning races for years on
Hoosier tires, this past week was a milestone for the young driver when he
picked up his first-ever Light 160 class A-main win. Abenroth also hopes the momentum
of the win will carry over to the upcoming Western Grands.
More than 90 cars filled the pits at the WQMA 1/20th-mile track last
weekend.
In time trials, Abenroth was 4th among the stout 13-car field. He then
parlayed that into an outside pole starting position for the
A-main.
At the outset, Abenroth immediately jumped into the lead and proceeded to
"check out" on the pursuing field.
While in the process of extending his lead, the race was red flagged when
another competitor crashed into the outside retaining wall.
When racing resumed, Abenroth got shuffled to the outside enabling several
cars to get by the frustrated young driver. However, Abenroth was confident he
had the best car, so he pushed ahead in search of the checkered flag.
One after another, Abenroth fought his way back to the front of the field en
route to capturing the checkered flag in the Light 160 class.
The race occurred late in the day and the track was generally slower
than average, yet Isaac's set of Hoosiers (35.0/7.1-6 & 33.0/5.0-6
A35, 31.0 A30 LF and 32.0 A30A LR) posted racing times that were about a
tenth of a second faster than the competition.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. would like to thank all the drivers who trusted the
Hoosier brand during the day of racing and also congratulate Isaac Abenroth on
his most recent win.
