LEBANON,
TN (June 7) -- In his first NASCAR All Pro Series start of the year
and only his second series start overall, Ryan Hemphill charged to the
finish line in a green/white/checkered flag final-lap restart in the
Sunbelt Rentals 125 at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday. Hemphill led
just one lap in the 102-lap race, but it was the last one which gave
him the win and $12,875 in prizes and awards.
Thirty-six cars started the race with Eddie Mercer on
the pole and Charlie Bradberry alongside. Mercer jumped out to the
early race lead but relinquished the lead to Bradberry when the lug
nuts on his #27 car were not fully tightened after pitting mid-way through
the event. On lap 86, Charlie Bradberry took over the race lead.
Bradberry led until the final lap when a late race caution set up a
green/white/checkered finish. Ryan Hemphill won the one-lap dash to
the line and collected his first-ever series win.
Hemphill collected $12,875 for the win. Jeff Fultz
finished in second place followed by Charlie Bradberry, Benny Gordon
and David Reutimann rounding out the top five. Eleven of the 36 race
starters finished the race on the lead lap.
The third place finish by Bradberry (636) propelled
him into the series lead over Reutimann (635) by just one point. Jeff
Fultz is in third place in the standings with 584 points.
The series will continue action this weekend at
Kentucky Speedway, June 14th in Sparta, KY.
