GREENVILLE,
SC (September 22) -- David Reutimann won the twice-postponed NASCAR
All Pro Series Cintas 200 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Sunday.
The win was his second of the season for the Zephyr Hills, FL driver.
Reutimann also won the season opener at South Boston Speedway in
March. The win was worth $9,075 to Reutimann who narrowed the distance
between himself and current All Pro Series points leader Jeff Fultz to 45
points in the standings with just two races remaining on the 2002
schedule. The race was originally scheduled for August 17th. But rain
that day and also on the first rescheduled date of Saturday, September
21st washed out the two prior attempts to get the race in before
Sunday's event.
Twenty-six cars started the Cintas 200 at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway's 1/2-mile oval. With qualifying rained
out, the starting grid was set by point standings. Jeff Fultz was
awarded the pole with David Reutimann alongside.
At the drop of the green flag, Jeff Fultz jumped out
to the early race lead. Fultz led until lap 15, when Reutimann took
his first of two turns out front. Reutimann's lead was interrupted by
three drivers taking their turn out front. Billy Bigley, Jr. led lap
79, Randy Gentry led lap 80, while Jody Lavender led laps 81-89,
before Reutimann returned to the lead for good on lap 90. Reutimann
led the remainder of the way en route to the 203-lap win. Reutimann
also collected $9,045 for the win.
Finishing in second place, .217 seconds behind the
race winner, was fourth starting Billy Bigley, Jr. The runner-up
finisher collected $4,330. Rounding out the top three was 13th
starting Randy Gentry. Gentry pocketed $2,595.
Six of the 26 starters finished the race on the lead
lap. Charlie Bradberry, Kevin Prince and Benny Gordon finished fourth
through sixth, respectively.
The next stop for the NASCAR All Pro Series is September
28th, at Southern National Speedway in Kenly, NC.
