LAKEVILLE,
IN (November 21) -- "Thanks for turning our season around."
were the words of All Star Sprint champion, Kenny Jacobs, after capturing his fourth
consecutive series title. Jacobs, driver of the Jacobs/Honecker
Motorsports #6, was one of seven drivers in the final top ten point
standings riding atop USA-made Hoosier tires. Other Hoosier-shod
drivers joining Jacobs in the top ten were Danny Smith and Dean Jacobs
in third and fourth place. Travis Rilat, Rodney Duncan, Mike Wagner
and Jason Johnson were sixth through ninth in the final point
standings.
After watching seven of the first eight races of
the season being won by Hoosier-shod drivers, Jacobs soon after boldly
switched to the Hoosier brand in hopes of securing a fourth
consecutive series championship. By the end of the season, no other
driver had more feature wins than Kenny Jacobs. His five wins combined
with 29 top ten finishes was enough to propel the Holmesville, OH,
driver to his fourth consecutive series crown. The recently
completed 2001 racing season provided Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. their
first, "Triple Crown" in sprint racing. First, Kenny Jacobs
captured the All Star Sprint crown. Then, Daryn Pittman won the World
of Outlaws Gumout championship. Finally, Danny Lasoski gave Hoosier
it's first-ever, "Triple-Crown" in the sprint circle,
winning the Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship. All told,
Team-Hoosier captured 28 wins in 46 All Star Sprint races in 2001, for
a 61% win percentage. Congratulations to Kenny and his entire
team on their fourth consecutive championship. Our appreciation also
goes out to all the All Star Sprint fans, teams and drivers who
supported the Hoosier brand during the 2001 season.
