TALLADEGA,
AL (September 5) -- Keith Segars captured his first-ever ARCA RE/MAX
Series win Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. Segars bested rookie
Chad Blount and veteran Frank Kimmel en route to the historic win.
Kimmel's third place finish was good enough to clinch the championship
in the series--his fourth title in the last five years.
Forty-one cars took the green flag Saturday at
Talladega Superspeedway with Bobby Gerhart and Keith Segars on the
front row. The race featured eight lead changes among four different
drivers. Bobby Gerhart, Chase Montgomery, Michael Vergers and Keith
Segars all took turns leading the 113-lap event. Segars led three
times for 62 laps including the final 36 en route to his first-ever
series win.
Finishing in second place was rookie Chad Blount after
starting 36th in the field. Frank Kimmel took third after starting
35th. Rick Carelli and Jason Jarrett finished fourth and fifth,
respectively. A total of 14 drivers finished the race on the lead-lap.
