LEBANON, TN (March 26, 2005) -- The ARCA RE/MAX Series was in action over the
weekend at Nashville SuperSpeedway with Hoosier Chad Blount claiming the win in
the PFG Lester 150. Blount is from Walkerton, (IN) which is just a stones throw
from Hoosier Racing Tire's factory and warehouse in Indiana. Blount took the
lead on lap 84, leading the final 36 circuits of the 119-lap race en route to
the win over 40 other drivers. It was his fifth ARCA Series win and first since
2002 when he won four races and the series' Rookie-of-the-Year Award. The race
was the second of 23 events scheduled this year in the series. Hoosier has been
the exclusive tire supplier for ARCA since the 1995 season.
A huge 56-car field was entered in qualifying with
53 drivers posting times. Erin Crocker, making her first-ever series start, won
the Pork Pole Award as the fastest qualifier on the 1.33-mile concrete oval.
Crocker's time was 29.154 seconds (164.602 mph). The World of Outlaws Series
regular's qualifying time was better than a half-second faster than the next
closest competitor.
The race had eight race leaders among seven
different drivers. Drivers leading during the event included; Erin Crocker
(1-28), Frank Kimmel (29-32), Joey Miller (33-38, 73-79), Tandy Marlin (39-72),
Ken Weaver (80), Chad Martin (81-83), Chad Blount (84-119). The race was slowed
seven times for cautions for a total of 41 laps.
Blount was followed to the finish line by Joey Miller
with Mario Gosselin, Chevy White, Brandon Knupp, Ken Weaver, Frank Kimmel, Zach
Chappell, Jason Jarrett and Don St. Denis in third through tenth, respectively.
Josh Clemons finished 11th and Erin Crocker in 12th to complete the list of
lead-lap finishers.
Jason Jarrett won the Hoosier Tire Hard Charger
Award for advancing the most positions. Jarrett started 32nd en route to his
ninth place finish.
The competitors, once again, raced on Hoosier's
12.0/28.0-15 radial tires used on superspeedway tracks. The cars used 5120 left
side and 5701 right side tires with one inch of stagger.
The members of Hoosier's staff servicing the event
included; Ken Kolter, Rick Tostevin, Doug Barnes, Dave Wroblewski, Mike Haenes,
Jake Hartle, Larry Merrill, Chris Grossman, Chad Wright and Fred
Awald.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will be back in action with
the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200, on April 24th at Salem (IN) Speedway. It will
be the first of six short track ARCA races where the Hoosier 11.5/26.0-15 12L
(left side) and 11.5/27.0-15 20R (right side) tires will be used.
