SALEM,
IN (April 29, 2012) -- Arizona's Alex Bowman led 146 of 200 laps en route to
winning the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway Sunday afternoon.
It
was Bowman's third win in the ARCA Series which has enjoyed three different
winners in its first three races of the 2012 season.
A total of 34 cars were on hand for qualifying
at the .555-mile oval. Chris Buescher, who has yet to visit victory lane this
season, won the pole for the event driving the #17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford.
Buescher posted a time of 17.060 seconds for an
average speed of 117.116 mph. Alex Bowman was second with a time of 17.142
seconds (116.556 mph).
The 200-lap race featured six leaders among four
different drivers. Chris Buescher led the race's first 39 laps before giving
way to Alex Bowman for the first of his three turns out front.
Bowman led a total of 149 laps yielding only to
Clint King (81-90) and Mason Mingus (136-140) throughout the 200-lap race.
At one point, Bowman had nearly a 12-second lead
during his impressive performance before finally capturing the win by 1.276
seconds over nine-time series and nine-time Salem winner champion Frank
Kimmel.
Brennan Poole finished in third place followed
by Chase Elliott and Erik Jones.
The race was slowed six times for cautions for a
total of 45 laps.
With his third place finish, Brennan Poole takes
over the lead in the point standings with 605 points followed by Alex Bowman
with 560 points.
The ARCA Series will be back in action this
Friday, May 4, at Talladega Superspeedway.
