TOLEDO,
OH (May 20, 2012) -- Texan Chris Buescher is no stranger to the winner's circle
at Toledo Speedway. Buescher dominated the Menards 200 leading 106 of
200 laps in collecting his first win of the season.
The 19-year-old driver has six career wins with
four of them now coming at the famous 1/2-mile oval. Buescher's other victories
came at DuQuoin and Salem.
In qualifying, 37 cars posted times with Alex
Bowman capturing the pole with a time of 16.046 seconds (112.177 mph).
Bowman followed by Brennan Poole, Chris Buescher
and Joey Coulter atop the time charts to fill the first two rows in the
starting grid.
The race featured five leaders among four
different drivers. Alex Bowman led the race's first 55 laps from the pole
before giving way to Chris Buescher.
Buescher led thru lap 113 before yielding the
top spot to Justin Marks. Marks led 19 circuits before 9-time series champion
Frank Kimmel took his turn out front.
Kimmel, looking for his 10th Toledo win, could
not hold off the hard-charging Buescher though.
After 20 laps, Buescher regained the lead from
the Kimmel on lap 153.
Buescher led the final 48 laps to capture his
first win of the season before the near-capacity crowd by 3.518 seconds ahead
of Kimmel.
Grant Enfinger finished in third followed by
Clint King and Tom Hessert in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The 200-lap race was slowed 10 times for
cautions for a total of 52 laps.
It was the ARCA Series' fifth race of the season
and its fifth different winner.
Tom Hessert, with a fifth place finish, takes
over the lead in the driver standings with 1195 points.
With the win, Chris Buescher jumps up to second
place win with 1180 points.
Brennan Poole drops from first to third place
after finishing 22nd.
Chad Hackenbracht is in fourth followed by Frank
Kimmel in fifth as only 45 points separate the top five in the driver
standings.
The ARCA Series, in its 60th season of competition,
will travel next to Minnesota for its first-ever visit to Elko Speedway on June
2nd.
