CONCORD,
NC (May 18) -- Jeff Fultz broke Frank Kimmel's string of three wins in
a row at Lowe's Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon by winning the ARCA
RE/MAX EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 100. Fultz in the #55
C&C Boiler Ford took the lead from Kimmel, the defending series
champion and current points leader on lap 60 and led the remainder of
the way to take the 67-lap win. Fultz, who finished third in last
year's NASCAR All Pro Series, was making just his second career start
in the ARCA Series. The race was contested prior to The Winston.
A talented 41-car field took the green flag on
Saturday afternoon with pole sitter Frank Kimmel jumping into the race
lead. Kimmel earned the right to start in the number one position
after posting a 29.691 second lap (181.873 mph) in qualifying for the
67-lap race.
Kimmel led the first 59 circuits before Fultz made his
move on the outside of Kimmel and the #46 Advance Auto Parts-Pork
Ford. Fultz led the rest of the way en route to his first-ever ARCA
Series win.
Kimmel finished in the runner-up position followed by
Damon Lusk, Robby Benton and Richard Mitchell in third through fifth.
Amazingly, 20 of the 41 race starters finished the race on the lead
lap.
Chad Blount, Chase Montgomery, Jason Jarrett, Robert
Burroughs and Andy Belmont rounded out positions six through ten,
respectively.
Jeff Speer, Product Manager for the ARCA Series, was on hand to assist teams throughout the week at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "Hoosier has always had a competitive and safe tire here at Lowe's. This year, one of our
goals is to reduce tire codes for the ARCA RE/MAX Series." Speer
added, "We brought our Atlanta setup to run here and had good success. The top four finishers never changed tires throughout the entire 67 lap race. Handling, wear, and performance were consistently good throughout the entire race."
Frank Kimmel retains the series points lead with 1555
points followed by Chad Blount and Damon Lusk tied in second place
with 1480 points.
The series will next head to Kansas Motor Speedway on
June 1.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series competes exclusively on Hoosier
tires.
