BROOKLYN,
MI (June 12, 2009) -- ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Parker Kligerman is taking a
lot of tests lately. The 18-year-old high school senior passed Justin Marks
with 10 laps to go on Friday en route to winning the "Racing For Wildlife
200" at Michigan International Speedway. It was Kligerman's second win of
the season in just his 10th career start. Shortly after the race, Kligerman was
on his way back home to Connecticut for his final exams during the week and
high school graduation on Friday.
Rain washed out qualifying so the 39-car starting grid was set by owner
points which placed Justin Lofton and James Buescher on the front row.
The race had its fair share of cautions with nine yellows thrown for 49 of
the 100 race laps.
There were six leaders during the event among four different drivers. Among
those leading the race included; Justin Lofton 1-39 (39 laps), Parker Kligerman
40-48, 91-100 (19 laps), Justin Marks 49-55, 59-90 (39 laps) and Jesse Smith
56-58 (3 laps).
In the end, Parker Kligerman came from a lap down to take the lead with ten
laps to go. The race ended with a final lap battle between Kligerman who
started fifth and Austin Dillon who started back in 36th place.
Kligerman would hold off Dillon though--capturing the win by .468
seconds.
Dillion finished a career-best second followed by Chase Miller, James
Buescher and Joey Coulter to round out the top five.
With the win, Kligerman swaps the top spot in the driver standings with
Justin Lofton after Lofton's 30th place.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will resume racing this Saturday, June
20, at Mansfield (OH) Motorsports Park.
