MANSFIELD,
OH (June 20, 2009) -- Parker Kligerman dominated the second half of the Tim
Richmond Memorial ARCA 200 at Mansfield Motorsports Park Saturday leading the
race's final 103 laps en route to the win.
It almost just can't get much better for the young Westport, CT driver.
Kligerman, who traded his cap-and-gown from his high school graduation Friday
night for a helmet and fire suit on Saturday, notched his second win in a row
and third win in his last four ARCA Series starts.
In addition to the three wins, the 18-year-old rookie also sits atop the
driver standings having finished in the top ten in eight of his nine series
starts this season.
Thirty-two cars started the Saturday night race. Justin Lofton captured the
pole in qualifying with a lap of 16.363 seconds (110.004 mph) around the
Mansfield 1/2-mile oval. Joining Lofton in the front row was 16-year-old Chris
Buescher.
The race featured four different leaders including; Justin Lofton 1-69 (69
laps), Steve Arpin 70-83 (14 laps), Matt Merrell 84-99 (16 laps) and Parker
Kligerman 100-202 (103 laps).
The race came down to a green-white checkered finish after the final caution
of the race in which Kligerman fought off a hard-charging Joey Coulter to
capture the win.
Coulter settled for a career-best second place finish followed by Chris
Buescher in third. It was also Buescher's career-best finish.
Justin Lofton, after an earlier spin, came back to finish in fourth place
followed by Steve Arpin who finished a career-best fifth.
The short track race had its share of contact which resulted in 13 cautions
for a total of 77 laps.
Mansfield is one of four tracks the ARCA Series visits in which Hoosier's
new short track radial tire is used. The three others are Berlin, Salem and
Toledo Speedways.
Hoosier is proud to be the exclusive tire supplier for the ARCA RE/MAX
Series.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will be back on the track at Iowa Speedway on July
11th.
