TOLEDO,
OH (June 23) -- After two "un-Kimmel-like" performances the
previous two events which dropped the series veteran out of the top
spot in the ARCA RE/MAX Series standings, Frank Kimmel came back to
win the Jasper Engines & Transmissions 200 on a blistering Sunday
afternoon at Toledo Speedway. Kimmel led just once for the final 61
laps to capture the win.
Previous race winner Chad Blount started the race on
the pole after capturing the Old Milwaukee Pole Award on the 1/2-mile
Toledo oval. Completing the front row was Damon Lusk who started
alongside Blount.
With temperatures in the high 90's, Chad Blount took
the early lead at the drop of the green flag. But just five laps
later, Damon Lusk would move into the race lead over the Walkerton, IN
driver. Lusk led the next 81 laps before Ron Cox took a turn out
front. Cox would give way to A.J. Henriksen on lap 96. Henriksen's
turn at the point would last 24 circuits before young Jason Jarrett
took over the race lead on lap 120. Jarrett's lead would last 25 laps
before defending series champion Frank Kimmel moved into the race lead
after starting sixth.
Kimmel led the remainder of the event en route to the
win--his fifth victory in the ten races to date. Jason Jarrett
finished in third followed by Chris Moore who was making his first
career ARCA start.
Rounding out the top five also making his first series
start was Fred Campbell in fourth and A.J. Henriksen in fifth.
"The ARCA ReMax series uses a common left and right side bias tire for all short track events."
commented Hoosier ARCA Product Manager Jeff Speer. "Hoosier has provided a bulletproof bias tire to hold the heavy
3400 lb. race cars around some of the country's fastest short tracks like Winchester Speedway and Salem Speedway. This past weekend, many of the teams opted to change all four tires once, which
meant over 100 laps on one set of tires with no problems." Speer
concluded, "When tires are not an issue the teams can focus on other matters like overheating and fuel mileage."
Damon Lusk, who finished eighth, remained atop the
ARCA RE/MAX Series standings with 2620 points. Frank Kimmel is in
second place in the standings with 2585 points. Chad Blount and Jason
Jarrett are in third and fourth place, while Andy Belmont and Chase
Montgomery are tied for fifth place with 2090 points.
Next stop for the ARCA Series is South Boston Speedway
in South Boston, VA on July 3rd.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. is proud to be the exclusive
tire supplier to the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
