RICKY STENHOUSE, JR. WINS AT POCONO
BECOMES FIRST REPEAT WINNER IN ARCA SERIES

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. wins Pocono 200 (Photo courtesy of www.arcaracing.com)LONG POND, PA (June 7, 2008) -- Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. increased his lead in the ARCA RE/MAX Series driver standings to 70 points after winning the Pocono 200 at Pocono Raceway Saturday afternoon. After eight races, the Olive Branch, Mississippi driver becomes the first repeat winner in 2008. The 20-year-old driver of the #99 Roush Fenway Racing-Conway Freight Ford led the final 20 laps en route to his second win of the season. 

On Friday, 38 cars were on hand for qualifying on the 2.5-mile Pocono tri-oval. Scott Speed was the top qualifier in the Eddie Sharp Racing #2 Red Bull Toyota. Speed's time was 53.862 seconds (167.094 mph). Justin Allgaier was second with a time of 53.928 seconds (166.889 mph). 

The race featured ten leaders among six different drivers. Leaders during the event included; Scott Speed 1-12, 33-47, 53-64 (39 laps), Justin Allgaier 13-29, 48-50 (20 laps), Bryan Silas 30, 51-52 (3 laps), Dexter Bean 31-32 (2 laps), Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. 67-86 (20 laps). 

The race also had eight cautions for a total of 44 laps with 19 of the 38 starters finishing on the lead lap.  

At the end of the race, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. had to fight off the late-race challenge of Scott Speed. 

Speed commented after the race, "We were 25th with seven laps to go, and finished second." 

After starting on the pole, Speed settled for second place--.601 seconds behind Stenhouse at the finish.  

Taylor Malsam finished a career-best third followed by Bobby Gerhart and Justin Allgaier to round out the top five.   

With his win, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (1790) extends his lead in the driver standings over Matt Carter from 10 points to 70 points after Carter's 12th place. 

Scott Speed jumps to third place (1690) in the rankings with his runner-up finish, while Justin Allgaier moves up to fourth place (1660). 

Tom Hassert III fell to fifth (1655) in the standings after finishing 30th in Saturday's race. 

All the ARCA competitors at Pocono raced on Hoosier superspeedway radials. 

Hoosier, the official tire of the ARCA RE/MAX Series for the past 14 seasons, provided trackside sales and service for the event. 

Hoosier staff working the event included; Ken Kolter, Rick Tostevin, David Wroblewski, Mike Haenes, Eriks Bers, Jim Bartholomew, Chris Bartholomew, Luke Morris and Rick Sisk. 

The ARCA RE/MAX Series will be back in action this Friday, June 13th, at Michigan Speedway. 

The race will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED at 5:00 PM ET.
