IL (August 18, 2013) -- Brennan Poole notched his second ARCA Series win of the
season at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Sunday afternoon.
The Texas driver led three times for 43 laps in
the annual Allen Crowe Memorial 100 race on the historic 1-mile clay
For the second event in a row, Mason Mitchell
set fast time in qualifying among the 28 cars posting times.
The 19-year-old driver circled the 1-mile oval
in 32.408 seconds (or 111.084 mph).
Kelly Kovski just missed the top spot with a
qualifying time of 32.478 seconds (110.844 mph).
Kovski was followed by Brennan Poole, Mason
Mingus and Taylor Ferns to round out the top five qualifiers.
The race had four cautions for a total of 24
The race had seven leaders among five different
drivers including; Mason Mitchell 1-21 (21 laps), Brennan Poole 22-50, 89-94,
97-104 (43 laps), Frank Kimmel 51-70 (20 laps), A.J. Fike 71-88 (18 laps) and
Spencer Gallagher 95-96 (2 laps).
In the end, Brennan Poole took the lead from
Spencer Gallagher on lap 98, but a late caution would extend the 100-lap race
another four circuits setting up a green-white-checker finish.
Poole fought off Gallagher the final two laps to
claim his second win of the season. Poole also won at Michigan International
Speedway back in June.
Spencer Gallagher, who started 12th, finished in
second place .481 seconds behind Poole.
Tom Hessert finished in third place followed by
Frank Kimmel and Justin Boston in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The race will be televised on August 23rd at
11:00 pm (ET) on NBC Sports Network.
