JOLIET, IL (September 10, 2005) -- Rookie Dawayne Bryan defeated 40 other
drivers to win Saturday's ARCA RE/MAX Series "SK Hand Tool 200" at
Chicagoland Speedway in just his second series start. The young driver, from
Lake Alfred, FL, started fifth in the 41-car grid and led twice for 39 laps
including the final 35 en route to his first series win. Bryan becomes the
ninth different winner this year in the series. The ARCA RE/MAX Series
attracted an eye-popping 59 entries for this year's race at Chicagoland
including last year's winner Kyle Krisiloff who is now in the Hendrick
Motorsports driver development program. Just two races remain on the 23-race
schedule in the ARCA RE/MAX Series which has tapped Hoosier as its exclusive
tire brand for the past decade.
Fifty-six cars made the trip to the Joliet 1.5-mile asphalt oval with Joey
Miller capturing his series leading 6th Pork Pole Award and clinching the Pork
Chopper Award given to the driver who wins the most poles throughout the year.
Miller will receive a brand new Harley Davidson customized motorcycle. The
Minnesota driver also set a new track record (177.212 mph) in qualifying
crushing the old mark (174.663 mph) set by Chad Blount in 2002. Miller's time
was 30.472 seconds.
The 138-lap race featured six leaders among four different drivers including;
Joey Miller (109, 43-94), Dawayne Bryan (32-35, 104-138), Frank Kimmel (36-42)
and Kyle Krisiloff (95-103). The race was slowed by nine cautions for a total
of 50 laps.
Dawayne Bryan won by .267 seconds over David Ragan in a green-white-checker
finish. Joey Miller crossed the line in third followed by Steve Wallace and
3-time series champion Tim Steele in fourth and fifth, respectively. Davin
Scites was sixth followed by Mark Gibson and Billy Venturini who rounded out
the list of lead-lap finishers. Frank Kimmel was ninth and Michael Simko
tenth.
Bobby Gerhart won the Hoosier Tire Hard Charger Award for advancing the most
positions. Gerhart finished 16th after starting 34th.
Defending and 6-time series champion Frank Kimmel continues to hold a
comfortable lead in the driver standings over rookie Joey Miller with just two
events remaining on the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.

schedule where radial tires are used. This was the same tire codes used at last
year's race where Kyle Krisiloff captured his only series win making just his
third series start.

in Lakeville, IN under the direction of ARCA RE/MAX Series Track Service
Manager Doug Barnes. Assisting Barnes in Joliet were Rick Tostevin, Dave

The ARCA RE/MAX Series will return to Salem Speedway this
Saturday, September 17th, where Hoosier bias-ply tires will be used by the
competitors. For complete race results and more information about the ARCA
