MILLVILLE,
NJ (September 28, 2008) -- In his first ARCA start since being signed by Penske
Racing to drive in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Justin Allgaier used an early
pit strategy to capture the Loud Energy Drink 150 at New Jersey
Motorsports Park on Sunday. The early stop strategy put the 22-year-old driver
out front when the rains came. The rain forced the scheduled 67-lap event to be
shortened by 19 laps with Allgaier out front. The win was Allgaier's fourth of
the year and ties him with Scott Speed with the most ARCA Series wins this
season. With just two races left on the '08 schedule, Justin Allgaier jumps up
two spots in the driver standings to third place behind Scott Speed and Ricky
Stenhouse, Jr.
Forty cars were entered for Sunday's race with 39 cars taking the green
flag. Andy Lally won the pole for the race when he posted a time of 82.256
seconds (98.481 mph) around the winding 2.3-mile track. The road racing veteran
is no stranger to racing on Hoosier radial racing tires. Over the years, Lally
has won numerous races on Hoosiers while competing in the Grand-Am Rolex
Series.
The race featured three different leaders including; Andy Lally 1-29 (29
laps), Dexter Bean 30-34 (5 laps) and Justin Allgaier 35-48 (14 laps).
The race was slowed five times for cautions for a total of 28 laps.
With the rain falling, ARCA officials were forced to throw the checkered
flag on lap 48 or 19 laps before the scheduled finish with tenth starting
Justin Allgaier in the lead.
Allgaier was followed to the line by Colin Braun who relieved Ricky
Stenhouse, Jr. on lap three. Braun drove his way to a stellar runner-up finish
driving for the injured Stenhouse who was still suffering injuries from a
violent crash at Eldora Speedway while competing in a midget race.
Braun was followed to the line by Taylor Malsam, Andy Lally and Brian Scott
in third through fifth, respectively.
Parker Kligerman crossed the finish line in sixth placed followed by James
Buescher, Scott Speed, Bob Schacht and Frank Kimmel to round out the list of
top ten finishers.
After the race, Allgaier commented, "If you look at the ARCA RE/MAX
Series, we've got the most diverse array of racetracks in any series and
fortunately now we've been able to win on a dirt track, a short track, a
superspeedway and on a road course. So, for us that's really cool."
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will be back in action this Friday with their annual
stop at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway before concluding their season on
Toledo Speedway's half-mile oval on October 12th.
