JOLIET,
IL (September 7) -- Rookie Chad Blount from Walkerton, IN won his
third ARCA RE/MAX Series race of the season after dominating the
ReadyHosting.com 200 at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday in Todd
Braun's APP Gas Dodge. Blount won from the pole after smashing the
previous track record speed in qualifying by over four mph. Blount circled
the 1.5-mile oval in 30.922 seconds or an average speed of 174.633 mph
to capture the Old Milwaukee Pole Award.
Thirty-nine cars were entered in Saturday's
ReadyHosting.com 200 with Chad Blount on the pole and defending series
champion Frank Kimmel alongside.
Blount took command from the outset and led 120 of the
race's 134 laps in capturing his third win of the season. Other race
leaders were: Chase Montgomery (twice for 9 laps), Mel Walen (once for
4 laps), and Frank Kimmel (once for one lap).
Finishing second, 1.732 seconds behind Blount, was
Rick Carelli. Despite several pit stops for repairs to his damaged
ride, Frank Kimmel managed to come home third.
Eight of the 39 entrants finished the race on the lead
lap. Completing the list of lead-lap finishers were: Tony Ave, fourth;
Jason Jarrett, fifth; Chase Montgomery, sixth; Mark Gibson, seventh;
and Billy Venturini, eighth.
The 134-lap race had nine cautions for a total of 58
laps. Ron Cox won the Hoosier Hard Charger Award for his tenth place
finish after starting 26th.
Frank Kimmel retains a commanding lead in the
standings over Chad Blount with Jason Jarrett solidly in third.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series resumes action this Sunday,
September 15, at Salem Speedway in Salem, IN.
