Wis. — The ASA Midwest Tour’s decision to compete on a different compound
of Hoosier tires were catching everyone’s attention at Saturday’s practice
for Sunday’s season opening event, the 4th Annual Joe Shear Classic at
Madison Int’l Speedway.

0.039 seconds of an eight-year Super Late Model track record by Andrew
Morrissey who set the mark of 17.413 seconds in 2004. What is interesting is
that Morrissey set the track record using a 4-bbl carburetor, and the ASA
Midwest Tour competes on2-bbl carburetors.

make the driver feel really good. It’s a little bit different then what we
were running on last year. I always had an uneasy feeling with those tires, as
they never seemed to come in for us. These tires are neat, hopefully they wear
out a little bit and they will put on a good race.”

moving the front, which could provide an entertaining show on Wisconsin’s
Fastest Half-Mile Oval.
