LAKEVILLE,
IN -- The American Sprint Car Series and Hoosier Racing Tire Corp.
have recently entered into an agreement making the Indiana-based tire
brand the series' right rear tire rule for another three seasons. The
series, which completed a 50-race schedule in 2003, will again use
Hoosier's 105.0/18.0-15 sprint tire on the competitors right rear
position in one of two compounds-Medium and Hard. The agreement
between ASCS's founder Emmett Hahn and Hoosier will run through the
2006 season.
Under the agreement, not only will the National ASCS
use only Hoosier tires on their right rear positions, but so will the
three divisional series under the ASCS umbrella which include the
Sooner Regional, Rocky Mountain Regional and the Gulf South Regional
groups.
Travis Rilat was the 2003 ASCS champion by 12 points
over Gary Wright, while Wright was voted the National 360 Driver of
the Year by the Sprint Car Hall of Fame Museum. Kevin Ramey was the
Sooner Regional champion, while Randi Miller won the Rocky Mountain
Regional championship and Kelly Angelette won the Gulf South Regional
championship.
Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman
commented on the agreement, "We have been working with Emmett
(Hahn) and ASCS for many years and I am very pleased he has elected to
stay with Hoosier for the next three seasons." Cowman continued,
"I would also like to congratulate Travis (Rilat), Kevin (Ramey),
Randi (Miller) and Kelly (Angelette) on their 2003 ASCS
championships."
In addition to the annual Chili Bowl event held each
winter in Oklahoma, American Sprint Car Series President and founder
Emmett Hahn has started a 410 sprint series called the Sprint Bandits
Series and will also use the same Hoosier right rear tire rule.
