THOMPSON,
CT (August 19) -- On Thursday, the NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Series was at Thompson International Speedway for a 150-lap event.
Sadly, an accident in the race's early stages took the life of Tom
Baldwin, Sr. The event was stopped after ten laps due to the
tragedy.
Baldwin, from Moriches, NY, was a regular competitor
in the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series and had six career wins
since the series inception in 1985. The 57-year-old driver was well
respected as a person and as a racer earning the Most Popular Driver
Award in 2003.
The entire Hoosier organization extends our heartfelt
prayers to Tom's daughter Tammy and son Tom Jr., who is crew chief for
Nextel Cup car #9 driven by Kasey Kahne.
You can send your condolences to the Baldwin family
via the message board on Tom's website at www.baldwin7ny.com.
