ISOM,
KY (July 4) -- Winfield, Tennessee's Mike Marlar picked up his second
win of the season in the Battle of the Bluegrass Series over the long
holiday weekend. The 25-year-old rookie driver led all 40 laps en
route to the win. The young driver collected $3,000 for the win.
Marlar, shown at the right in his Hoosier driver's suit, becomes only
the second driver to win more than once in the highly competitive
series. Darrell Lanigan is the other two-time winner. Not
surprisingly, Lanigan also competes on USA-made Hoosier tires.
The Battle of the Bluegrass Series is in its second
season racing at tracks in Kentucky and Tennessee and was organized to
offer local racers an affordable alternative to high-cost traveling
circuits. The series also allows any tire brand to be used.
Last season's champion was Eddie Carrier, Jr. This
season, Scott James (2430) leads the series standings over Mike Marlar
(2385). To learn more about the series visit www.battleofthebluegrass.com.
The Hoosier driver's suit was the brainchild of Hoosier
Tire Midwest's Chad Anderson who made arrangements with Simpson
Products to offer the purple Hoosier drivers suits to program drivers
at a reduced cost. Congratulations Mike Marlar on your win and thanks
to Chad for his efforts in developing the stylish suits for Hoosier
program drivers across the country.
