Hoosier Tire has entered into a multi-year agreement as the Official Tire of the Cayman Interseries and that means some cool tire bonuses for series competitors at each race this season. The tire supplier of choice since the Cayman Interseries was introduced in 2009, Hoosier’s expanded role and involvement, which began at last month’s season-opening race at Sebring, has also seen the introduction of a series-specific “Cayman” application of its proven R6 DOT tire.
“This series has shown a potential for growth, provides a safe environment of racing and competes on nationally known race tracks throughout the U.S.,” said Hoosier Tire Product Manager Jeff Speer. “We are thrilled to be the official tire of the Porsche Cayman Interseries and look forward to this series to be bigger and better in the years to
The Hoosier R6 has been the ideal tire for the Cayman Interseries, safe, reliable and competitive for both debuting and more experienced drivers.
Even better, a set of four Hoosier R6 tires will be among the competitor awards up for grabs at every Cayman Interseries race. Lori Cassling won a pair of Hoosiers in an all-driver drawing on Saturday at Sebring while Chuck Smithee earned two tires for the Hoosier Drive of the Race in Sunday’s enduro. Smithee challenged for the top three throughout the race in an impressive solo run in the No. 25 Mobil 1 Porsche GT-1 themed Cayman S, finishing fourth.
"We are grateful for the outstanding support Hoosier and our other Cayman Interseries partners provide for our competitors, said Cayman Interseries President and Founder Ron Barnaba. “The on-site operational support is also first class from Hoosier, and their supplier partner Bob Woodman, as both groups literally keep us rolling each and every race weekend. We are proud of what we have accomplished with Hoosier the last two seasons and look forward to even more mutual success in 2011."
Next up for the Cayman Interseries is the 35th Annual Walter Mitty Race presented by Classic Motorsports Magazine and sponsored by Mazda, at Road Atlanta, April 28 – May 1. One of the most popular events on the schedule, the Mitty marks the only Georgia appearance for the Cayman Interseries this season after making four visits to the Peach State last year.
