LAKEVILLE,
IN -- Officials from the CRA Super Series (formerly the Sunoco Super
Series) and Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. have announced that the series
will, once again, run exclusively on Hoosier tires. The multi-year
agreement will go into effect beginning with the 2005 racing season.
After a three-year hiatus, the Salem, IN-based series will be back
running on the Hoosier brand.
The CRA Super Series, which began in 1997 as the
Indiana Late Model Series before being changed to the Sunoco Super
Series the past three years, currently boasts a 19-race schedule
across the Midwest with races in six different states including
Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and Tennessee.
The deal was ironed out after months of negotiations
between Hoosier officials and Series Director Glenn Luckett and
Managing Partner R.J. Scott. CRA competitors will be competing on
10" bias-ply tires beginning with the season-opening event April
16th at Anderson (IN) Speedway. Tires will be supplied throughout the
season by Hoosier Tire Midwest.
Hoosier Late Model Asphalt Product Manager Terry
Newton commented, "CRA has continued to grow over the years with
more than 150 drivers competing last season." Newton added,
"We are
extremely pleased to again be working with Glenn (Luckett), R.J.
(Scott) and the entire CRA Super Series organization."
Last season, the CRA Super Series crowned Chuck
Barnes, Jr. series champion after the 22-year-old driver earned
Rookie-of-the-Year honors last season in his first year of competition.
Barnes claimed two wins during the year while being voted the series'
most popular driver.
