 LAKEVILLE,
IN (November 28-29) -- For the past 14 years, Hoosier distributors have been
invited to yearend meetings to discuss various topics of interest and to set a
course for next season. While last year's meeting was held in Orlando in
conjunction with the PRI show, this year the meeting returned to Hoosier's
corporate headquarters in Lakeville, IN.
The meetings were intended to give distributors a forum in which they can
discuss issues with other distributors, product managers and engineers or
issues dealing with manufacturing, administrative or warehouse
staff.
The gathering also serves to strengthen old relationships and build new ones
with first-time participants.
The 2-day event convened Tuesday morning with representatives from every
domestic distributor in attendance. This year there were also representatives
from Australia and England.
Tuesday's schedule included various meetings and breakout sessions for
specific product lines. Distributors were encouraged to discuss any problems,
as well as, success stories that other distributors could benefit from.
After the long day of meetings, everyone was invited to dinner with a hypnotist
providing the night's entertainment.
The second day included tours of the manufacturing facility in Plymouth.
This is usually the highlight of the 2-day event.
Given the highly secretive nature of the race tire business, tours of the
manufacturing facility are rare. However, this is the one time each year where
the doors are opened to allow a glimpse of the people and processes which are
unique to Hoosier.
As the tour groups moved about the plant, production was ongoing. At each
stop, a production associate would speak to the group about the work that goes
on in their department and how their efforts fit into the overall process of
producing a Hoosier tire.
The sense of pride and workmanship displayed by everyone in the production
facility is one of the many reasons for Hoosier's success over the
years.
