TAMPA,
FL (February 5-10, 2007) -- For the second consecutive year, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
season kicked off in grand fashion at East Bay Raceway Park in Florida last
week. And just like last year's event, every feature winner rode on Hoosier
tires. Rick Aukland, Earl Pearson, Jr., Tim Dohm, Shannon Babb, Steve Shaver
and Scott Bloomquist were feature winners during the six nights of action.
Eighty-six cars were on hand for the finale with Bloomquist winning the 75-lap
feature on Saturday while pocketing $12,000 for his efforts. The annual event
has marked the unofficial start of the late model dirt racing season and is
part of February's month-long racing in Florida commonly referred to as
Speedweeks.
The results speak for themselves just how dominating
the Hoosier brand was during each night of racing:
-
All six night's fast qualifiers used Hoosier tires.
-
45 of 46 heat race winners used Hoosier tires.
-
24 of 24 B-main winners used Hoosier tires.
-
151 of 156 features starters used Hoosier tires.
-
All 6 night's main event winners used Hoosier tires.
Hoosier's late model dirt product manager Shanon Rush, who was
in Florida for the event, commented, "We have been very fortunate to be so
successful at East Bay Raceway Park. No matter what the tire rule is,
Hoosier-shod drivers seem to find their way to the front. Rush added, "We
are always happy to start off the year with great results like these. We look
forward to building on this success during the remainder of the 2007
season."
Last year, The Lucas Oil Late Model Series allowed two different Hoosier
compounds to be used in competition, while this year they expanded the options
to three. The three Hoosier options for East Bay were the 1100, 1300 and 1600.
In the end, all three compounds captured victories during the six-day event.
The 1100 compound was used to capture three wins with the 1300 winning twice
and the 1600 winning once.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. would like to thank all the drivers who trusted the
Hoosier brand at this year's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at East Bay
Raceway Park.
