CAJON, CA (April 5) -- Mark Meech captured his second NASCAR
Featherlite Southwest Series win of his career Saturday after leading
all 125 laps in the COORS Light 125. The race was the series' third
event on its 14-race 2003 schedule. The victory comes 14 years after
his first win in the NASCAR Elite Division and occurred on the
driver's home track. Meech (center) was all smiles afterwards as shown

Thirty-five cars attempted to make the 24-car field
with Craig Raudman winning the Bud Pole Award for the Coors Light 125.
Raudman's time was a blistering 16.149 seconds around the Cajon
Speedway 3/8-mile oval. The top eight redraw had Raudman starting
eighth with Mark Meech (pole) and Eric Holmes starting on the front
row.
Meech immediately jumped into the lead at the drop of
the green flag. From there, Meech led all 125 laps en route to his 2nd
career win in the series. Meech also earned $2,500 for the win. The
margin of victory for the La Mesa, CA driver was 1.3 seconds.
Finishing in second place was previous race winner Dan Holtz. Holtz
started the race in third. Finishing in third place, after starting
fifth, was Steve Bolletto.
Eric Holmes finished in fourth place, while Jim Pettit
II rounded out the top five after starting back in 18th.
Bryan Germone won the Powerade Move-Of-The-Race Award
for his 7th place finish after starting 22nd, while Danny Burson won
the Rookie-Of-The-Race Award for his 10th place finish.
After a sixth place finish, Auggie Vidovich, Jr. now
leads the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series standings with 485
points followed by Eddy McKean with 424 markers after McKean finished
a disappointing 17th. Bryan Germone rounds out the top three in the
standings with 414 points.
The series will now take a few weeks off before returning
to action on Saturday, April 26th, at California's Stockton 99
Speedway.
