Among
the 50 cars to take the green flag in Saturday's Barber 250, 17 cars
were competing in the ST class. The race went down to the wire with
Sylvain Tremblay taking the lead on the final lap driving the No. 70
SpeedSource Mazda RX-8. It was Tremblay and co-driver David Haskell's
fourth win of the year. They are now within eight points of the lead
currently held by Will Turner and Don Salama. And just how hard was
the No. 70 car being driven by Tremblay at the end of the race? Astoundingly,
the No.70 car's fastest lap was on the final lap of the race. The ST
class winners finished 11th overall among the 50 race starters.
Settling for second place (12th overall) was the No. 27 Bill Fenton
Motorsports Nissan 350Z driven by Eric Curran and Bob Endicott. Bill
Fenton and Bob Beede drove the No. 29 Acura RSX-S home to a third
place finish (14th overall).
The event was serviced by Hoosier Racing Tire out of
the corporate headquarters located in Lakeville, IN. The service team
consisted of Track Service Manager Tim Gilvin, Jim Bartholomew, John
Broeker, Marc Brown, Terry Gilvin, Jake Hartle, Brian Herthoge, Chris
Grossman and Dan Webb.
The final Grand American Road Racing Association race
is October 29-31, at California Speedway in Fontana, CA. The Rolex
Series will be contesting the Lexus Grand American 400, while the
Grand-Am Cup Series will be hosting the Lexus Grand American 250.
Hoosier is extremely proud to have been selected by
the Grand American Road Racing Association to be the exclusive tire
provider this year for three of the five competing classes in the
Rolex Series and Grand-Am Cup Series and for being chosen as the sole
tire supplier for all classes beginning with the 2005 season.
