Grand-Am Cup Series GS class winner, car No. 43 driven by Craig Stanton and David Murry.BIRMINGHAM, AL (October 8-10) -- The Grand American Road Racing Association was in action over the weekend at Barber Motorsports Park with both the Rolex and the Grand-Am Cup Series on the track. In the Rolex Series on Sunday, the SGS class was won by Marc Bunting and Andy Lally. The Porsche 250 race had 38 starters among the three classes on the track with 11 starters competing in the Hoosier-only SGS class. On Saturday in the Grand-Am Cup Series Barber 250, Craig Stanton and David Murry were the top finishers among the 50 race starters. The duo won their second consecutive GS class race driving the TheRaceSite.com Racing Porsche 996 No. 43 (photo). In the ST class, Sylvain Tremblay and David Haskell won their fourth event of the year. Tremblay drove the No. 70 SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 into the lead on the last lap en route to the win. Just one event remains on the 2004 Grand American Road Racing Association's schedule with both the Grand-Am Cup and Rolex Series in action (October 29-31) at California Speedway. The 2005 season will usher in a new era in the Grand American Road Racing Association with all classes running exclusively on Hoosier tires.

ROLEX SERIES - SGS CLASS

SGS Class Podium @ BarberThirty-eight cars took part in Sunday's Rolex Series Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park with 11 competing in the SGS class which runs exclusively on Hoosier tires. When the 87-lap race was completed Marc Bunting and Andy Lally added to their points lead winning their second event of the season driving the No. 38 TPC Racing Porsche GT3 Cup while finishing 17th overall. The pair, who lead the driver standings by 16 points, won earlier this season at Watkins Glen. The win also assured the No. 38 car the SGS team title. Finishing in second place (19th overall) was the No. 36 TPC Racing Porsche GT3 Cup driven by Michael Levitas and Randy Probst. Leh Keen and Cory Friedman finished in third place (21st overall) driving the No. 14 Autometrics Motorsports Porsche GT3 Cup. The race was run under cloudy skies with the threat of rain throughout. Both Hoosier WET and DRY tires were used during the event.

GRAND-AM CUP SERIES - GS CLASS

GS class podium at BarberOn Saturday in the Grand-Am Cup Series Barber 250 race, Craig Stanton and David Murry made it two in a row finishing first among the stellar 50-car field (33 competed in the GS class). After early morning showers, the weather cleared in time for the 93-lap race. Stanton and Murry took the lead on lap 72 in the No. 43 TheRaceSite.com Racing Porsche 996. Amazingly, it was Stanton's sixth win of the season in the nine events contested to date. Even more amazing, he missed one of the events and still is just four points out of first place in the standings. Finishing 9.481 seconds behind the race winner was the No. 11 Powell Motorsport Cadillac CTS-V driven by Terry Borcheller and Devon Powell. (Borcheller currently leads the GS driver standings.) Wayne and Joe Nonnamaker finished in third place driving the No. 44 TheRaceSite.com Porsche 996. The tight points battle will be settled at the end of the month at the series' final event in California.

GRAND-AM CUP SERIES - ST CLASS

ST class podium at BarberAmong the 50 cars to take the green flag in Saturday's Barber 250, 17 cars were competing in the ST class. The race went down to the wire with Sylvain Tremblay taking the lead on the final lap driving the No. 70 SpeedSource Mazda RX-8. It was Tremblay and co-driver David Haskell's fourth win of the year. They are now within eight points of the lead currently held by Will Turner and Don Salama. And just how hard was the No. 70 car being driven by Tremblay at the end of the race? Astoundingly, the No.70 car's fastest lap was on the final lap of the race. The ST class winners finished 11th overall among the 50 race starters. Settling for second place (12th overall) was the No. 27 Bill Fenton Motorsports Nissan 350Z driven by Eric Curran and Bob Endicott. Bill Fenton and Bob Beede drove the No. 29 Acura RSX-S home to a third place finish (14th overall).

The event was serviced by Hoosier Racing Tire out of the corporate headquarters located in Lakeville, IN. The service team consisted of Track Service Manager Tim Gilvin, Jim Bartholomew, John Broeker, Marc Brown, Terry Gilvin, Jake Hartle, Brian Herthoge, Chris Grossman and Dan Webb.

The final Grand American Road Racing Association race is October 29-31, at California Speedway in Fontana, CA. The Rolex Series will be contesting the Lexus Grand American 400, while the Grand-Am Cup Series will be hosting the Lexus Grand American 250.
