MAKES ANNUAL STOP AT THE GLEN

GLEN, NY (June 18-20) -- The Grand American Road Racing Association
was in action at Watkins Glen International this past weekend with
both the Grand-Am Cup Series and the Rolex Series in action. In the
Grand-Am Cup Series Grand Touring (GT) class, the driving duo of David
Murry and Craig Stanton captured the win in the No. 44 TheRaceSite.com Racing Porsche 996. It was Stanton's fourth win of the
season and first with his new co-driver. Stanton won the first three
events of the season with former teammate Terry Borcheller.
Ironically, Borcheller finished first in the previous GS race in
Canada, but was scored with a 28th place finish after violating series
guideline regarding fuel capacity. In the
Sport Touring (ST) class, Tim Pappas and Bill Auberlen were the
winners finishing 15th overall. On Sunday, the Rolex Series contested
the "Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen" with three classes
battling it out to determine a winner. In the Super Grand
Sport (SGS) class, Marc Bunting and Andy Lally captured their first
Rolex Series victory. The SGS class runs exclusively on Hoosier
tires.
GRAND AM CUP SERIES - GRAND SPORT (GS) CLASS

GLEN, NY (June 19) -- The completion of Saturday's The Glen 250
Grand-Am Cup Series race at Watkins Glen marked the half-way point of
it's 10-race season. When it was over, a familiar face stood on the
Grand Sport class winners podium--that of Craig Stanton. Stanton,
along with new co-pilot David Murry, share driving duties for the No.
44 TheRaceSite.com Racing Porsche 996. It was Stanton's fourth win in
five events this season--his first with Murry. Finishing in second
place was Schuitemaker Motorsports #35 Nissan 350Z and Doncaster
Racing's #91 Porsche 996 in third. The race was slowed by nine
cautions for a total of 27 laps. The race ended under caution after 64
laps when it reached the three hour time limit. Craig Stanton is atop
the GS class driver standings with 166 points followed by former
teammate Terry Borcheller with 134 points. Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker
are tied with 133 points.

GRAND AM CUP SERIES - SPORT TOURING (ST) CLASS

GLEN, NY (June 19) -- In the Sport Touring class which competes
alongside the GT class in Grand-Am Cup Series competition, it was Tim
Pappas and Bill Auberlen winning in the #97 Turner Motorsport BMW
330i. It was the duo's first win of the season while finishing 15th
overall. Following the #97 car to the finish line was the Team Lexus
#2 Lexus IS300 driven by Chuck Goldsborough and Ian James.
Goldsborough and James won the previous race in Canada. Claiming the
final podium spot was the Acura RSX-S Bill Fenton Motorsports #29
driven by Bill Fenton and Bob Beede. Will Tuner and Don Salama, who finished
fourth in Saturday's race, are on top of the ST class driver standings
piloting the Turner Motorsports #95 BMW 330i. While as yet not
claiming a win this season, the pair have been consistent with three
runner-up finishes and two fourth place finishes.
A total of 57 cars took to the 2.45-mile
road course in Saturday's race split among the two competing (GS, ST)
classes.
The next Grand-Am Cup Series race is August 6-8, at
the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

ROLEX SERIES - SGS CLASS

WATKINS
GLEN, NY (June 20) -- In the "Six Hours of the Glen"
race in the Rolex Series, the TPC Racing Porsche GT3 Cup #38 driven
by Marc Bunting and Andy Lally the SGS class winner (finishing
16th overall). Following the #38 car to the finish line was TPC
Racing's #37 car driven by Spencer Pumpelly and John Littlechild
also in a Porsche GT3 Cup car (17th overall). In third place was
Doncaster Racing's Porsche GT3 Cup driven by the trio of Dave Lacey,
Greg Wilkins and Jean Francois Dumoulin (18th overall). With the
win, Marc Bunting and Andy Lally move into the SGS class point lead.
The Rolex Series consists of three classes--the
Grand Touring (GT), Daytona Prototype (DP), and the Super Grand
Sport (SGS) class. All three classes have a different tire brand
designated for its competitors with the SGS class on Hoosier tires.
There were 44 cars in competition with 15 of them on Hoosier tires.
The next Rolex Series race is June 30-July 1, at
Daytona International Speedway.
Both events were serviced out of Hoosier's corporate
facility in Indiana by Jim Bartholomew, Joe Carter, engineer Gary
Freymiller, Brian Herthoge, Hoosier Grand-Am Track Service Manager
Tim Gilvin, Chris Grossman, Ray Grant and Track Service Manager Mike
Kraemer. |
