DINWIDDIE,
VA (March 13) -- It occurred on his last run of the day. All the
conditions were just right. A perfect combination of track conditions,
man and machine came together and resulted in history being made when
Frank Gugliotta made unofficial IHRA Pro Stock history. Driving for
Steve Thodos in a new Ford Escort, Gugliotta was clocked at an astounding
6.407 seconds or 215.41 mph on the history-making run. One of the
components of the amazing run was Gugliotta's Hoosier racing tires.
Gugliotta, voted IHRA's most improved driver, made the record-setting
run using a pair of Hoosier's NEW 34.5/17.0-16 C7000 drag tires
(Catalog #18810).
After being handed the official time slip after
the run Gugliotta commented, "When
I stuck this car into third and went high, I know this thing was on a
pass. That old Jon Kaase horsepower threw me back in the seat
and those Hoosier tires just held on to the track."
Team
Owner Steve Thodos added, "It feels absolutely great and I’m
happy for Frank and my guys. Thodos continued, "It's times
like this that confirm that I made the best choice for the
driver."
Steve
Hudspeth, one of Hoosier's Drag Racing Product Managers, was at the
event and commented on the run, "We were hoping for some good
runs with the new tire, but this was more than we expected."
Hudspeth added, "The new tire was very impressive and results
speak for themselves. I would not be surprised to see a new record in
IHRA Pro Stock this season on Hoosiers."
Both
Steve Hudspeth and Faron Lubbers will be in San Antonio (TX) for the
IHRA season-opening event where the new 34.5/17.0-16 C7000 tire will
be widely available for competition. Feel free to stop by the Hoosier
trailer to check out the new tire.
Also in attendance for the record-setting run in Virginia was Roy
Freeman from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic.
