LASOSKI WINS GUMOUT FINALE,
WHILE PITTMAN WINS GUMOUT CHAMPIONSHIP
AS HOOSIER IS GUMOUT CHAMPION AGAIN

10-11-2001

Danny LasoskiKANSAS CITY, KS (October 10) -- Pennzoil World of Outlaws regular, Danny Lasoski, took advantage of the six day break in the senior circuit's schedule to participate in the Gumout series' season ending race at Lakeside Speedway Wednesday night. After three times being postponed due to rain, the event was finally contested. Lasoski led the entire 30-lap A-main en route to the win while a huge Hoosier-shod contingent followed the Outlaw's current #2 man in points across the finish line. Amazingly, the first ten drivers to cross the stripe were on USA-made Hoosier tires. Now if that wasn't good enough for Team Hoosier, Daryn Pittman, a Team Hoosier convert since May, captured the series championship after he finished eighth. And if that wasn't good enough, did we mention this is now the second year in a row Hoosier tires have been the brand of choice of the Gumout series champion as the circuit completes it's second season of competition.

Twenty-nine cars were entered for preliminary qualifying with 27 drivers posting times. Of those twenty-seven drivers, fully 21 elected to trust the Hoosier brand. When all the laps were complete, Team Hoosier posted the four fastest qualifying times. Daryn Pittman set fast time of 13.692 seconds around the 3/8-mile oval. Pittman was followed by Terry McCarl, Danny Lasoski and Shane Stewart. If not for one position, Team Hoosier would have swept the entire top ten times as Mike Goodman, Kerry Madsen, Danny Smith, Travis Whitney and Ron Laney were sixth through tenth quickest.

Of the four preliminary heats races, Team Hoosier captured three victories. Daryn Pittman won the first manufacturer's heat race, while Danny Lasoski and Danny Smith won heat's three and four.

In the two Dash races, Team Hoosier once again dominated the contest. Danny Lasoski won the Weld Dash 1, as Team Hoosier swept the top five (Lasoski, Pittman, Whitney, Madsen, Carslon) leaving the sixth and final position to a competing tire manufacturer's driver. Shane Stewart took the win in the Weld Dash 2, as Team Hoosier once again swept the top four (Stewart, Smith, Goodman, McCarl).

In the 30-lap A-main, Danny Lasoski using a pair of the new Hoosier RD12 compound tires on his rear set-up, powered his way to a flag-to-flag victory. With 19 of the 24 race starters on the Hoosier brand, the question was just how long the list of top finishers would be at the finish. The answer was THE ENTIRE TOP TEN! Following Danny Lasoski to the line was Shane Stewart, Mike Goodman, Kerry Madsen, Danny Smith, Travis Whitney, Jason Sides, Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl and Brian Carlson.

What a way for Team Hoosier to cap off another stellar season in the Gumout Series, a win, a sweep of the top ten, and a Gumout Series championship on the heals of Craig Dollansky giving Team Hoosier it's first Gumout championship in the series inaugural season of 2000.

The final tally in the Gumout points race had a Team Hoosier sweep of the top four slots, as Jason Sides finished in second place after an exciting season long battle with eventual winner Daryn Pittman. Mike Goodman finishes in third and Ron Laney in fourth.

Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. congratulates Danny Lasoski on his win, Daryn Pittman on his championship, and all the teams, drivers and fans who have been made the 2001 Gumout season a historic one for the entire organization. We could not have had the successes we enjoyed without your support.

Thanks to Scott Fernandes from Hoosier Tire Midwest-Springfield who attended the event and reported the various "Hoosier" details.
