BEATRICE,
NE (June 12) -- Tyler Walker posted his third win of the season in
World of Outlaws Gumout competition Wednesday night at Beatrice
Speedway. The driver of the C&W Motorsports #35 made a late race
pass over fellow Hoosier-shod driver, Daryn Pittman in capturing the
win. The finish was the sixth time in six Gumout races that
Team-Hoosier enjoyed a 1-2-3 finish. In fact, 13 of the first 14
drivers to cross the finish line in the 35-lap feature were riding on
Hoosier tires.
Twenty-three cars posted times in qualifying--20 of
them on Hoosier tires. Terry McCarl set fast time of the event with a qualifying
lap of 13.539 seconds around the 3/8-mile track. The top nine
qualifiers were members of Team-Hoosier.
Two of the three preliminary 10-lap heat races were
won by Hoosier-shod drivers. Tyler Walker won the second heat, while
Shane Stewart won the final heat.
Both dash races were also won by drivers using Hoosier
tires. Tyler Walker won the first dash to earn the pole for the
feature, while Terry McCarl won the second dash placing him alongside
Walker in the last race of the night.
Walker took the lead at the drop of the green flag
with Terry McCarl close behind. Walker would give up the lead to Daryn
Pittman on lap 26 however. Pittman led three laps before Walker made
the pass on the inside to regain the race lead. Walker led the rest of
the way winning by 10 car lengths.
Finishing in second place was Daryn Pittman, while
Shane Stewart took third. The top three finishers all opted to run the
35-lap race on a Hoosier D12/D15 combination.
Other top ten finishers for Team-Hoosier were: Paul
McMahan, fifth; Terry McCarl, sixth; Wayne Johnson, seventh; Justin
Henderson, eighth; Jeremy Campbell, ninth; and Ricky Logan, tenth.
Tyler Walker remains atop the Gumout standings as the
series travels to Sheboygan County Fair Park on June 15th in Plymouth,
WI.
