LAKEVILLE,
IN -- Tyler Walker dominated Friday's World of Outlaws Gumout Series race at
Wisconsin's Oshkosh Speedway, in what turned out to be, the final
stand-alone race of the season after Saturday's event at Powercom Park
Raceway in Beaver Dam was rained out. Walker started the evening by
setting fast time in the C&W Motorsports #35, and then backed that
up by winning his heat and the first dash. The young hot-shoe then capped
off the perfect night by
leading every lap of the 30-lap feature en route to picking up his 11th
win of the season. More importantly, Tyler Walker also claims the
Gumout Series championship which comes with a hefty $50,000 payout.
The Gumout Series now closes the books on its third
year of competition with all three season's champions using Hoosier
tires en route to claiming their respective titles.
In 2000, Craig Dollansky gave Team-Hoosier its first
Gumout Series crown in the inaugural season of the series.
Last year, Daryn Pittman gave the Hoosier brand its
second consecutive title when he won the series championship. That
year the top four drivers in the point standings used Hoosier tires.
Jason Sides, Mike Goodman, and the late Ronald Laney finished second
through fourth, respectively on Hoosiers.
In 2002, the Hoosier brand was even more dominant than
the first two seasons. Team-Hoosier went undefeated throughout the
entire season--winning all 22 races contested during the year. Hoosier
tires also swept the podium in all but three races finishing
first, second and third a total of 19 times.
Tyler Walker claimed the series championship over
Shane Stewart, Jason Sides, Wayne Johnson and Craig Keel, as the
Hoosier brand was used by the top five finishing drivers and eight out
of the top ten in the final standings. Jeremy Campbell (7th), Brian
Carlson (8th), and Brandon Wimmer (10th) were the other Hoosier-shod
drivers in the final point standings. (View

Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman
commented on the Gumout season, "Tyler (Walker) had a great season!
He won half of the Gumout races and deserves to be the series
champion." Cowman added, "Hoosier is very proud to have been
a part of Tyler's success this season. We are also extremely pleased
to have been the 'brand-of-choice' for every champion in the Gumout
Series over the past three seasons."
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. wishes to congratulate
everyone who competed in the 2002 Gumout Series.
