LAKEVILLE, IN -- On the heels of their most successful Florida
Speedweeks ever, Team-Hoosier will now set out to improve on last year's
phenomenal 90-6
record in the World of Outlaws Series and notch its fourth consecutive
series title. The series will open this Friday in Hanford, California
at Kings Speedway, where last season, Team-Hoosier opened the year
with their first one-two-three finish of the season. Amazingly,
Hoosier-shod drivers went on to record 71 podium sweeps during the
grueling 96 race season.
In last year's season-opener at Kings
Speedway, Danny Lasoski, using a pair of Hoosier D10's, led all 30
laps to take the win with Tim Shaffer and Steve Kinser finishing
second and third. Shaffer used a D10/RD12 set-up, while Kinser used a
D10/D12 combination and charged all the way from ninth to finish
third. The three different compounds used by the top three finishers
gave early evidence of the versatility of the Hoosier arsenal for the
2002 season.
The Hoosier brand is coming off its most successful sprint season
to date having won their second consecutive All Star Sprint
Championship, a third consecutive Gumout title, a third
consecutive World of Outlaws crown while finishing undefeated in 410
competition in central Pennsylvania last year. Hoosier-shod drivers
captured nine of the top ten driver positions in the Outlaws final
standings--sweeping the top eight spots. And while it will be difficult to improve on such an
amazing record, Team-Hoosier sets out to do just that. Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product
Manager Neil Cowman commented on the upcoming season, "From what I
observed over Speedweeks when Hoosier-shod teams went 7-0, the Hoosier
brand is off to another fast start in 2003." Cowman added,
"We know the competition will keep coming at us, so we will
continue our testing programs while we remain committed to providing
our customers the best race tires in the world." Todd Seitz,
Hoosier's World of Outlaws track service manager, will begin his
fourth season following the Outlaws' trail. Since Seitz began his
duties as Outlaws track service manager and traveling to the nearly
100 races a year, Team-Hoosier has won the series championship every
year. The streak began in 2000 when Steve Kinser gave Hoosier Racing
Tire Corp. its first-ever Outlaws title. In 2001, Danny Lasoski
captured series crown, and last season, Steve Kinser gave the purple
tire brand its third consecutive championship in sprint racing's
premier series. Who will win this year's World of Outlaws
title is anyone's guess, but chances are pretty good whoever it is,
they will be riding on USA-made Hoosier tires. |
