-- While the Pennzoil World of Outlaws season is just getting underway
having completed the first two events in a grueling 106-race schedule,
it's not too early to see which tire brand dominated both nights of
racing. Teams using Hoosier tires finished 1-2-3 in the season opener
at Kings Speedway (Lasoski-1st, Shaffer-2nd, S. Kinser-3rd) and repeated the
feat at Perris Auto Speedway a day later (Pittman -1st, S. Kinser-2nd,
The podium sweep by Hoosier-shod teams was a familiar
sight in the Outlaws series last season with Team-Hoosier securing all
three podium spots an amazing 36 times.
While this season has
started off extremely well for teams on the Hoosier brand, the HOT
streak actually runs into last year when the final nine events of the
year were won by drivers using Hoosiers with the last six races ending
in a 1-2-3 finish for Team-Hoosier bringing the podium sweep streak to
eight heading into Las Vegas Thursday.
opening the season strong on the west coast with the Outlaws, east
coast forces have been equally dominating. Both season openers at
Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania resulted
in impressive results for Hoosier-clad teams.
finished 1-2-3-4 at Lincoln Speedway where Keith Kauffman was the
30-lap winner. While at Williams Grove, Hoosier tires were on the
first 11 drivers to cross the finish line in the 25-lap feature. Greg
Hodnett took the 25-lap victory there.
Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman commented
about the early season sprint results, "We are hitting on all
cylinders right now." Cowman continued, "Coming off our
perfect Speedweeks in Florida and now finishing 1-2-3 in both
Outlaw races and both season openers in Pennsylvania, we are
extremely pleased with the performance of the tires so far. But we
remain ready to implement quick changes in constructions or compounds to
keep Team-Hoosier consistently ahead of the
Pennzoil World of
Outlaws competition resumes this Thursday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
