LAKEVILLE,
IN (September 24) -- After three years of dedicated efforts to
introduce the Hoosier brand to the replacement street tire
marketplace, Hoosier Performance Tire, and its parent company Hoosier
Racing Tire, have decided to discontinue the street tire program.
Introduced in 1999, the Hoosier Performance Tire brand was
positioned to bring Hoosier's 40 plus years of racing heritage to the
performance street tire aftermarket. Dwindling margins and a general
line contraction in the industry forced the difficult decision by the
privately held organization from Lakeville, Indiana.
"We just had to face facts. We were not achieving the market
penetration we needed to maintain the program. Our distributors and
corporate office staff did everything possible to keep the brand
alive, but we had to move on."
The "manufacturer" of the Hoosier street tire will assume
all control of the remaining inventory and will continue to honor the
"limited warranty" on all existing tires.
