LEICHESTER,
NY (July 12-14) -- The Hoosier tire brand carried four drivers to
their respective IHRA class finals over the weekend at the 14th Annual
CARQUEST Auto Parts Empire Nationals. Corrine Rudy made it to the
final round in Hot Rod, while Jason Lynch was in the Quick Rod final.
Terry Taylor was in the finals in Stock and Dale Brand made it to the
finals in Funny Car marking the fifth consecutive time Brand drove the
Co-line Welding Firebird into the final round in the Funny Car class.
QUICK ROD
Jason Lynch, riding atop a pair of Hoosier 33.5/17.0-16 C06 drag tires
used a .429 RT to get the jump on his opponent and his .489 RT in the
Quick Rod final. Lynch, aboard his Summit Racing Equipment dragster,
backed that up with an ET of 8.913 on the 8.90 index to capture the
win when his opponent broke out in an effort to make up the difference
Lynch captured at the tree.
FUNNY CAR
For the fifth consecutive time, Dale Brand and his Hoosier
34.5/17.0-16 C2000 drag tires were in the finals in Funny Car. In the
previous four finals, Brand was runner-up to Jimmy Rector. But this
time, Brand defeated Rector in an earlier round. In the final round,
Brand gained a huge edge at the light with a .435 RT to his opponent's
sluggish .513 RT to gain the early advantage. But mechanical failure
blocked Brand's attempt to capture his first IHRA final win of the
season and forced him to settle for runner-up honors in the highly
competitive class.
STOCK
In the Stock final, Hoosier-shod Terry Taylor left too early at the
light ending his bid to claim the IHRA final round win and relegating
Taylor to a very respectable runner-up finish.
HOT ROD
Corrine Rudy broke out in the Hot Rod final and also settled for a
respectable runner-up finish in the final round.
The next IHRA Series event is July 26-28, at US 131
Motorsports Park in Martin, MI for the 21st Annual CARQUEST Auto parts
Northern Nationals.
Congratulations to all the loyal drivers, teams and
fans who continue to support the efforts of Hoosier to be the world's
best manufacturer of drag tires.
