LAKEVILLE,
IN (December 19) -- On Saturday, the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw
Sprint Series held their 35th annual end-of-season banquet in Lomira,
Wisconsin, to recognize the efforts of the series' participants.
Wisconsin's Kim Mock, the 1994 IRA champion, took top honors winning
the 2001 championship in the closest points battle in series history.
Mock actually entered the series' final event third in points, 17
markers out of first place. But Mock had something the other two
drivers in front of him did not. Mock was riding on USA-made Hoosier
tires.
When the IRA's season ending Frank Filskov Memorial race
ended, Kim Mock not only won the race, he had won the championship as
well. Hoosier sprint tire product manager commented, "Add
Kim's championship to the titles won in the World of Outlaws Series,
the Gumout Series, and the All Star Sprints Series, and there is no
question Team-Hoosier had an amazing 2001 season." Cowman
added, "Everything had to go right that night for Kim to win the
championship, and you know what, it did. The points leader entering
the race broke, finishing 20th, and Kim erased the nine point
difference between himself and the runner-up man, winning the title by
11 points." The IRA banquet was attended by Hoosier Tire
Midwest's Chad Anderson and reported in addition to Mock, who finished the season in first place tied with the
most IRA features wins (4), three other drivers finished in the top
ten on the Hoosier brand. Scott Neitzel finished in fourth place,
while John Haeni finished fifth and Howie Gleason ninth on Hoosier
tires. Hoosier Racing Tire
Corp. congratulates Kim Mock on winning the 2001 Bumper to Bumper IRA
Outlaw Sprint Series championship. We would also like to thank all the
competitors who trusted Hoosier tires during the past year's
competition. |
