ST.
JOHNS, PA (April 17, 2005) -- Matt Hirschman, son of 2004 NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour champion Tony Hirschman, won Mountain Speedway's 50-lap Modified
opener on Sunday. Formerly known as Evergreen Raceway, Mountain Speedway is a
1/3-mile semi-banked asphalt oval located in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
TIRES: (27.0x13.0-15 1330 right side and 26.0x13.0-15 1320 left side)
The tires used at Mountain Speedway are part of the Hoosier S.T.A.R.T. program
of economically priced race tires designed to put more cars in the pits. The
tires retail for $125.00 which will benefit all racers.
Quote from Matt Hirschman: "There is not a lot of grip in
Mountain Speedway, but the 1330's and 1320's help with that and they are only
$125.00 each which helps everyone."
Quote from Hoosier's Irish Saunders: "It's great to see a 2nd
generation driver win. Matt has a lot of talent and is very smooth just like
his dad (Tony Hirschman). He has a great future."
Other opening-day winners included; Joe Hoffman in the Late Model class,
Brad Kline in the Street Stock class, Richard Petey in the Thriller division
and Joe Grocholski in the 4-Cylinder Thriller class.
