SCCA JUNE SPRINTS
THE 54TH CONSECUTIVE RUNNING
THE FIRST LEG OF THE TRIPLE CROWN

June 21, 2009 Elkhart Lake , WI – On what had turned out to be a beautiful weekend, the 54th consecutive running for the SCCA June Sprints were held on the spectacular 4.048 mile rolling, twisting, turning Road America road course.  Hoosier Racing Tire was there to support and service over half of all race entries.  

2009 marks Hoosier’s 25th anniversary of participating in the June Sprints and this year produced it’s most successful results to date.  

Servicing done by Hoosier Tire Midwest, out of Plymouth , Indiana was done in a timely, organized and effective fashion, getting drivers out on the track racing.  Hoosier Racing Tire corporate also added valuable engineering and technical service.  

After days of testing, practice and qualifying.  Saturday, June 20, 2009: 
Race 1, saw the racing of the………………………..  

Spec Miata (SM)-  Spec Class Toyo Tires.  

Showroom Stock B (SSB)- Hoosier Racing Tire starts the race weekend out right with a podium sweep.  Car No. 86, Toby Grahovec was 1^st.  Car No.09, Jack Tippens was 2^nd and Car No. 32, Ralph Porter rounding out the podium.  

Showroom Stock C (SSC)- Car No. 48, Eric Vancleef came in 2^nd and Car No. 36, Joe McClughan took the third step receiving a hard fought 3^rd  place finish.  

Touring 3 (T3)- Car No. 2, John Costello was on the top step of the victory circle stand.  Car No. 24, Richard Fisher stood by his side holding down the 2^nd place position.
 

Race 2, 
Formual Vee (FV)- Hoosier second podium sweep of the afternoon had car No. 65, Mike Varachins in 1^st  place.  Car No. 48, Brian Jennerjahn in 2^nd place and car No. 46, Chris Jennerjahn in the 3^rd  position.  

Formula 500 (F5)- Attaining another Hoosier podium one, two, three car No. 92, Jason Knuteson was 1^st,  car No. 0, Bob Giesen was 2^nd and car No. 84, Jeff Jorgenson was 3^rd.  

Race 3,

Formula 1000 (FB)- Car No. 43, Glenn Cooper stood proud atop the podium to bring home a first place finish.  

Formula Enterprise (FE)- And yet one more podium sweep of the day for Hoosier Racing Tire had the No. 97 car of Scott Rettich in 1^st.  Car No. 91, driven by Nick Evans in 2^nd and car No. 59 with Scott McQueen rounding out the top three.  

And the final race of the day, Race 4,

E Production (EP)- Car No. 97, Kevin Leigh came in 2^nd  and Car No. 48, Mike Sturm was 3^rd.  

F Production (FP)- Car No.2, of Eric Prill fought his way to a 3^rd  place finish.  

H Production (HP)- Car No. 01, Tim Pitts achieved a 2^nd  place.  

Grand Touring Lite (GTL)- Car No. 42, Jim Stinehefler although the racing was great, had to settle for a  3^rd  position for this round of competition.  

At the end of Saturdays competition, a day filled with lots of racing excitement, four races and twelve different classes, Hoosier had captured four podium sweeps and six first place wins.  

Sunday June 21, 2001, 10:55 a.m. once again found racing underway.

Race 5,

Spec Racer Ford (SRF)- Spec class on Goodyear tires.   

Race 6,

Formula Continental (FC)- Car No. 81, Justin Pritchard started his day out right with a 1^st place win.  

Formula Ford (FF)- Car No. 88, Tim Kautz earned a 1^st.  Car No. 17, Tony Coello took 3^rd.  

Race 7,

C Sports Racer (CSR)- Car No. 46, Jim French racing till the end to receive his 1^st  place finish.  Car No. 7, Jacek Mucha had 2^nd place finish.  

D Sports Racer (DSR)-  Car No. 41, Garry Crook took 1^st.  Car No. 2, Jon Staudacher took 3^rd.

Sports 2000 (S2)- Car No. 07, Corey Fergus had 1^st.  Car No. 06, Mark Mercer took 2^nd.  

Race 8,

Touring 1 (T1)-  Hoosier back to sweep the podium.  Car No. 37, Lance Knupp in 1^st.  Car No. 69, Mike Tracey in 2^nd and Car No. 4, John Miller in 3^rd.  

Touring 2 (T2)-  Car No. 9, Bill Baten in 1^st.  Car No. 79, Dave Macneil in 2^nd and Car No. 34, Jay Patel in 3^rd.  

Super Touring Over (STO)-  Car No. 45, Mike Boden took 3^rd.  

Super Touring Under (STU)-  Car No. 01, Ron Pawley took 1^st.  

American Sedan (AS)-  Car No. 74, Tom Sloe in 1^st.  Car No. 24, Andy McDermid had 2^nd and Car No. 54, Philip Smith had 3^rd.

Race 9,

Formula Atlantic (FA)-   Once again with all Hoosier racers standing proud, not leaving room for any other tire competitors in victory circle.  No. 88, Mirl Swan took 1^st.  Car No. 75, Sadat Yelkin had 2^nd.  Car No. 40, Keith Grant took 3^rd.  

Formula Mazda (FM)- All Goodyear cars on podium.   

And the final race of the weekend, 

Race 10,

Grand Touring 1 (GT1)-  All Goodyear cars on podium  

Grand Touring 2 (GT2)-  Car No. 28, Mark Boden took 2^nd.  

Grand Touring 3 (GT3)-  Car No. 03, Jeff Dernehl took 3^rd.  

With six races and fifteen different classes, Hoosier again had 4 podium sweeps.  Ten 1^st places for the day.
