LAKEVILLE,
IN (October 19) -- Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. is proud to announce that
16-time Pennzoil World of Outlaws champion, Steve Kinser, has signed
an exclusive agreement to run Hoosier tires during both the 2002 and
2003 seasons. The "King of the Outlaws" has exclusively
competed on USA-made Hoosier tires since the start of the 2000 season.
Kinser went on to capture his record setting 16th series championship
his first year on the Hoosier brand.
"We are extremely
pleased with the
decision Steve has made to continue to run Hoosiers for another two
years." stated Dennis Sherman, Hoosier's Vice
President of Marketing. Sherman continued, "This agreement
demonstrates not only Hoosier's commitment to providing the best sprint
tires in the world, but also, Steve's confidence in our ability to
continue to provide a superior product in the years to come." In
the three races leading up to the agreement, Kinser has captured two
first place finishes and one second place finish. Also of note, the top three drivers in
the Pennzoil World of Outlaws point standings are running Hoosier tires as the series heads
into it's final seven races of the season. Mark Kinser, Danny Lasoski
and Steve Kinser are currently 1-2-3 in the standings for Team
Hoosier. Neil Cowman, Hoosier's sprint tire product manager commented,
"After Steve (Kinser) won his 16th championship his first year
competing on Hoosier tires, it really served to legitimize what we
have
been doing." Cowman added, "Last year we were still the
underdog by way of the number of teams running our brand, but this
year, so many good teams are running them, we really expect to win
every night." Hoosier President and CEO, Bob Newton, commented on
the signing, "When Steve first signed up to run Hoosiers back in
2000, a lot of people were surprised and I think somewhat doubtful we
could compete with the "big guy". But we did, and Steve won
the championship." Newton continued, "Steve is a great representative of the
sport and we are thrilled that he has once again re-signed to be a member of Team Hoosier for another two years." This
season, Team
Hoosier has won 55 of the 92 races, for a 60% win ratio in Pennzoil World
of Outlaws competition, as more and more teams continue to make the switch to
USA-made Hoosier tires. Even more impressive, 28 of those events ended
in a 1-2-3 sweep for Team Hoosier. With the close of the season just
seven events away, Team Hoosier has placed even more pressure on the
remaining teams not on the Hoosier brand. In the most recent Pennzoil
World of Outlaws race at Houston Raceway Park, not only did teams
riding on Hoosier tires finish 1-2-3, they finished 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9,
in one of the most impressive performances of the season. All
Hoosier tires are proudly "Made in the USA". |
