Homestead Miami SpeedwayLakeville, IN. (March 17, 2009) Saturday, March 14, 2009 the fifth visit to Homestead-Miami Speedway for the KONI Sports Car Challenge. Hoosier is there to service the event with the team of: Jim Bartholomew, Eriks Bers, Chris Grossman, Rick Sisk, Mike Walsh, Jeff Yute. Product Manager: Scott Huffer and Engineering support of: Matt Marlow. Working with the beautiful temperatures in the low 80s, making for uneventful tire concerns all weekend.

A day after missing the pole position in Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge competition by only .003 seconds, Randy Pobst and Christian Miller took the No. 74 Compass360 Racing Honda Civic Si to victory in the Street Tuner (ST) class Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the second closest finish in KONI Challenge history.

Pobst fought Tom Long in a seesaw battle that saw both drivers lead multiple times over the final half hour of action on the 2.3-mile, 11-turn track, but a pass in Turn 11 on Lap 89 of 92 gave Pobst the lead for the final time. He held onto the point for the final four laps to earn his fifth career overall and class victories, while giving Miller his first win.

The margin of victory, which stood at 0.129 seconds, was the second closest finish in KONI Challenge history.

Finishing third, 8.464 seconds back, were Hurley and Ian Baas, who drove the No. 171 APR Motorsport Volkswagen GTI.

Sunday, March 15, 2009 - Just when one thought it couldn't get any closer than Saturday's Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge Street Tuner (ST) race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Billy Johnson and Andy Lally nearly did so in Sunday's Grand Sport (GS) race, the second of two KONI Challenge races in the Grand-Am Fan Appreciation Weekend.

Johnson and co-driver Peter Ludwig's No. 18 Motorsport Technology Group Porsche 997 edged Lally and John Potter's No. 41 TRG Porsche 997 by only 0.133 seconds - compared to Saturday's 0.129-second victory by Randy Pobst and Christian Miller - to give Porsche a 1-2 sweep and Johnson's first career GS victory.

Another of those regulars, Ozz Negri, rounded out the podium with Wilden in the No. 59 Rehagen Racing Ford Mustang GT. It was the team's third straight podium finish and second straight third-place result.

The next KONI Challenge ST race will be run simultaneously with GS on May 2, 2009 at Thunderbolt Raceway at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
