WHEELERSBURG,
OH -- For nearly 50 years, the Hoosier brand has been collecting wins on tracks
around the globe. Now, Hoosier tires are winning kart races on even more
tracks. Just last month, 13-year-old Kyle Locher (photo) started third in the
gold plate class at Wheelersburg Raceway in Ohio. The Portsmouth West Middle
School youngster, using Hoosier's D10 compound on all four corners, wasted no
time powering into the lead on the very first lap. Kyle, who is in just his
first year of racing, led all 15 laps en route to the win. That same night,
Levi Middleton also captured the feature win in the blue plate class using a
Hoosier D20/D30 (left/right) combination.
Just a few days later, Kyle followed up his strong performance by winning
yet again at the 1/5-mile clay oval. This time, the West Portsmouth, Ohio
native and his Hoosier-shod kart started on the pole for the feature. Just like
his earlier win, Kyle led every lap to collect another feature win on Hoosier's
new dirt kart tires.
Like his earlier win, his second victory also came while using the same D10
compound. The ultra-soft Hoosier compound had Kyle turning lap times in the
11.59 second range all night which was even faster than open class according to
the Kyle's father Matt.
Kyle's dad also noted that his son had the only kart riding on Hoosiers that
night, but thought that was all about to change. Based on the recent success of
the new Hoosier kart tires, we'd have to agree.
