LAKEVILLE,
IN -- Two of the five NASCAR divisions that Hoosier exclusively
provides tires for were to have been in action over the weekend but
inclement weather forced the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series final
race of the season at Connecticut's Thompson International Speedway to
be postponed until Saturday, October 25, with three drivers battling
it out for the championship. Todd Szegedy currently leads the
standings over Chuck Hossfeld by 36 points and by 46 points over John
Blewett III. Ironically, whomever of the three wins the title it will
be the first series championship for the winner. In the NASCAR
Featherlite Southwest Series, Kevin Vernon captured his first-ever
series win in front of his hometown fans at Mesa Marin Raceway in
Bakersfield, CA on Saturday. Vernon pocketed $2,700 for the win.
