TUCSON,
AZ (October 24) -- Jim Pettit II claimed his fourth win of the season
winning Sunday's rescheduled "Star Nursery.Com 150" at Tucson
Raceway Park. Pettit led the final 43 laps of the 150-lap race en
route to the win while collecting $2,900 for the day's top finish.
Just one race now remains on the NASCAR Southwest Series schedule.
Pettit will take a 116 point lead into the final November 4th race at
Phoenix International Raceway to close out the 2004
season.
Twenty-four cars started Sunday's race that was
originally slated for September 18th. Burney Lamar won the Bud Pole
Award as the event's fastest qualifier. Lamar circled the 3/8-mile
oval in 15.494 seconds (87.131 mph). The eight-car invert placed Craig
Raudman on the pole with Eddy McKean alongside.
The race featured five leaders among four drivers
including Craig Raudman (1-2), Eddy McKean (3-48, 50-107), Burney
Lamar (49), and Jim Pettit II (108-150). Following the sixth starting
Pettit to the finish line was 16th starting Greg Voigt in second place
and Doug McCoun in third. McCoun started 18th en route to the podium
finish.
Mike Medenhall finished in fourth place after starting
21st on the grid. Auggie Vidovich, Jr. finished in fifth place
followed by Eddy McKean, Bob Lyon, Nick Joanides, Darrell LaMoure and
Rip Michels in sixth through tenth, respectively.
The race, as are all Southwest Series races, was
serviced by Hoosier Tire West in Fresno, CA. Hoosier's Terry Newton is
the Product Manager for the NASCAR Southwest Series which used
26.5/11.0-15 "2220" left-side tires and 27.0/11.0-15
"2240" right-side tires for the 150-lap race at Tucson.
Jim Pettit II will take a 116 point lead in the
rankings into the final race of the season at Phoenix International
Raceway on Thursday, November 4th. Craig Raudman is in second place in
the driver standings with 1940 points followed by Burney Lamar (1819),
Eddy McKean (1816), and Eric Holmes (1696).
Four of the five NASCAR regional racing series that
ride exclusively on Hoosier tires have concluded their 2004 campaigns,
while the NASCAR Southwest Series season will come to a close on
November 4th. The entire Hoosier organization is proud to have been
selected the exclusive tire provider for five regional NASCAR
divisions this year.
