MADERA,
CA (March 13) -- Jim Pettit II won Saturday's "AutoZone 125"
at California's Madera Speedway in the NASCAR Southwest Series. It was
the series second race on its 14-race schedule. Pettit was the only
Ford driver in the top ten winning $2,900 for his efforts. Pettit and
his #03 Ford came from eighth place to take the lead on lap 93 en
route to the win over 15th starting David Gilliland and Bob Lyon.
Danny Burson and Burney Lamar rounded out the top five. Previous race
winner Eddy McKean finished in sixth place as 11 of the 22 race
starters finished the 125-lap race on the lead lap. McKean's sixth
place finish was good enough to retain the points lead in the series
standings with 180 points over Tim Schendel and his 170 markers.
Pettit takes over third place in the rankings with 165 points.
In other race notes, it was the first event of the
season using Hoosier's '2220' left side and '2240' right side tires.
This same combination will be used at the four events in the series.
Madera Speedway's promoter is Rick Gerhardt---owner of Hoosier Tire

schedule is March 28th at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, CA. The
NASCAR Southwest Series is one of five NASCAR Touring Divisions (out
of seven) that Hoosier exclusively provides tires for in
